GDSS

Garbage Disposal Sanitation and Systems (GDSS), is a waste disposal company headquartered in the Industrial Terrace of Kingston, Jamaica. EMA provided the architectural design services from schematic design through to construction documentation for the project.  

Our design concept is centered around our client’s philosophy to execute projects “The Eco-Sanity Way”. The corporate office building and project site feature environmentally friendly elements including green walls and semi-public garden spaces.  A unique element of the design is the incorporation of recycled materials such as broken glass bottles and wooden pallets. The roof water will be harvested for reuse. The architectural language is one of interdependence-interior and exterior materials reflective of one another, spaces which are contemporary, the color palette harsh yet soft.  This project is a practical celebration of a new modern Caribbean aesthetic. The facility houses an office building, maintenance area, guard house, loading bay, recycling station and on-site parking. The office building is enclosed within a traditionally constructed concrete and masonry two story structure.
